The Farthest Sights ever captured

timeline of the records
Timeline of a World Record

In our daily life, the horizon is usually a translucid distant line, where objects get dim after a short distance.

Imagine all things affecting visibility: Geometry, Meteorology: Air Pollutants, Atmospheric Physics… It may seem complex, but from time to time conditions arrange so that we can see farther than usual.

And there are moments where we can see longer than anyone else has seen before.

It requires a great deal of coincidence for all possible parameters to allign so that we can see ultra distant objects. Deep knowledge, precise planning and perfect execution are also in the game.

It is not easy to reveal those distant landscapes, but the result is absolutely worth it.

It makes us feel lucky to be there. Photographers are lucky to be there. And is also of big responsibility.

They are the only ones out there, with the beautiful task to capture this moments, and give them to the world to admire.

This is our collection of the farthest shots ever captured.

Let us know if you have managed to beat the record: In Beyond Horizons we aim at being the worldwide check for any new World Record attempt.

If there is a Master when it comes to photograph Canigó peak, he is Bruno.

We are used to have from him several high quality pictures of Canigó taken from various locations around Marseille, and in this case it is no exception.

It comes with a great deal of planification and preparation to capture the sun setting just against the desired target, and in the picture above this is done with absolute mastery.

205 kilometers is such a distance that, when you are able to see though it, it seems like magic.

Ridges, snow caps, summits… Every detail in this picture is almost perfectly visible as a high pressure system set over northern Spain, allowing this clear views on sunset.

Antoine always impresses us with beautiful high quality pictures from the area around Corsica and this time is no exception.

Moreover, this is the first time that we publish an image taken during night time, yet another proof of the incredible visibility and clear air that we had during the last August 12th

We can see below that the same mountains were phtographed during the sunset, at night and during sunrise of the following day (in IR)
Thank you Antoine for sharing with us this views!

Here we have an amazing view taken from near the Apennines, in a Natural Park called Parco Naturalle delle Capanne di Marcarolo.

A place with a great potential for distant sights, as it offers a very good position to view over the surrounding mountains: all the Eastern Alps at once!
