This is an special picture.

Just because the peak portrayed here is geometrically not visible from the observation point (the highest peak in Poland). That small Romanian peak is appearing due to refraction, that curves the light beams across the atmosphere and allows hidden objects to show as if they were visible.

A great example of how refraction is something to very care about in distant observations.

When we beated the World Record for distant sights almost a year ago, from the same place and at the same time, we never tought we were about to repeat it.

After days of calculation, preparation and planning we were again at the top of Pic du Canigó, just a little moments before sunrise, awating for the view that stopped the time.

Exactly at the forecasted time, and at the very certain place we were waiting it, the sun rose behind Alp-de-Haute-Provence.

Want to try yourself? Don’t forget to check our recommended cameras!

Another picture from the Historic day of 23rd of December, 2014.

The clearness of that day allowed me to take pictures of almost every peak in the horizon, not even caring about the distance to it

This time, the area around the highest peak in Pyrenees, and the third in height of Spain, Aneto at 3.404 meters above sea level.

In distant photography  there are good days, and there are days that go to History.

23rd of December, 2014 was one of this days, as being ultra – clear.

Covering distances up to 260 kilometers in a single picture, maintaining the details as the picture above does can only be achieved in a day with perfect conditions.

After days of researching, Marc discovered that certain peaks in Maritime Alps range will show in front of the sun at sunrise near summer solstice, in concret 13th July for the first of them. Even better, this event will became in a new world record for distant sighting.

Here it is.

Three and a half weeks before and after the winter solstice, the sun rises behind Sierra de Tramuntana in Mallorca island, as seen from a summit in southern Catalonia. This is helpful to portray those mountains, which would otherwise require higher transparency.

Impressive view of the Canary Island as seen from the summit of pico “El Teide” on a very windy and cold November Morning.

Teide Summit is known as well for projecting one of the most perfect “triangular” shadows on Earth and has potential to reach distant Horizons to even Africa.
