Milan has sent us these pictures of the Italian, Austrian and Slovenian Alps, as seen from the beautiful Slovenian village of Izola, very close to Trieste city.

The photographs shows us a large portion of this important mountainous area rising directly above the Adriatic sea. In order to better appreciate the distant details, all original full-sized photographs have been cropped.

Happy New Year!

There is no better way to start this 2018 that with a picture taken from a mountain of more than 4.000 meters!

I would say this is the first image we have like this and the definition os really great.

Monte Viso is a very recognizable mountain in the horizon when the air is clear enough to see it.

Now we wait for the opposite picture, as the view from Monte Viso should be impressive as well!

From a nice village in the Apenins Mountains in Italy there is a very over the Alps that can be really beautiful. Our great contributor Fabrizio Giudici is located near this magnificient viewpoint and always tries to find the best possible picture of Europe’s highest mountains.

Here it is a perfect example of that.

Here we have a great idea to see the main chain of the Alps from the distance with great results!

And it is even next to the magnificient place of “Lago di Garda”, so double the reason to go there and have a look. It seems it will be impressive to see a clear sunset from there on a good day!

Thank you Adrian for sharing this with us.

Here we have an amazing view taken from near the Apennines, in a Natural Park called Parco Naturalle delle Capanne di Marcarolo.

A place with a great potential for distant sights, as it offers a very good position to view over the surrounding mountains: all the Eastern Alps at once!

Want to try yourself? Don’t forget to check our recommended cameras!

Getting to see the Alps from the Pyrenees seemed an extremely difficult goal a few years ago.  No photos existed, or at least were not published.

Achieving it in complete daylight without the help of the alignment of the sun or the dawn screen effect still seemed more difficult.

Alps sectors with more zoom, and a little over contrasted, to ease the view of the details.  One album with other pics of that day can be found here. The panoramic simulation of Ulrich is available here.

The Doigt de Dieu was the most distant summit and the World Record for distant pictures until July of the same year. Currently World Record is from  another summit of the Pyriness although in this case with a contemplation before the sunrise.

Impressive and clear picture of Mt. Rainier, elevating to 4.392 meters above sea level, captured from almost this very same sea level.

It is always a very good sign of a clear atmosphere when such a picture can be taken so close to the ground.

Thank you Patrick for sharing with us this picture!
